Title 5 inspections in Norwell
Standard Title 5
$425- Required for home sales and transfers

Confidential System Evaluation
$500- Full camera inspection of the lines
- Private report to you. Nothing filed with the town

Not an official Title 5 inspection. It can't be used for a sale or transfer.
Norwell rules that go beyond state Title 5
- Every Title 5 inspection in Norwell must include pumping the septic tank.
- Every septic tank must have a DEP-approved effluent filter. A system without one gets a Conditional Pass.
- A cesspool that otherwise passes is only a Conditional Pass until a 1,500-gallon tank and distribution box are installed ahead of it.
- High groundwater is set by a DEP soil evaluator or by observation in March or April.
- Properties with dual systems, including separate laundry or greywater systems, need a separate report for each.
